Group therapy is commonly used in treating substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders as it is proven to help individuals to enhance their interpersonal insights through interacting and receiving feedback from others that leads to a deeper understanding of the self. Group therapy also works to create a sober social space where participants can feel safe to express their thoughts and feelings and learn to accept healthy feedback from others. IHC’s group therapy sessions can be as small as four to five individuals or include up to fifteen, and our groups typically meet once or twice each week for an hour or two.
